Interblogger: photographing for another blog

Sometimes, perhaps often, inspiration comes from one's spouse [all monikers essentially being equal, use whichever new-age designation you wish]. And at times, in those special situations, couples inspire each other. I am fortunate enough to have married someone who inspires my creative self, and I'm beginning to see that I too inspire her creative side as well.
The capstone to this creative swirl came a couple weeks ago when my wife told me she wanted to start an ice cream adventure blog. I was excited to know she would be writing again, then I was flattered that she wanted me to shoot our ice cream encounters including our travels to another point of interest along the way to the shoppe -- all to tell the story while we Look for the Ice Cream or, rather, Cherchez La Crème as the blog is called.
Although I have been photographing since high school senior year, there are several genres of photography I have not learned or shot thoroughly. The subject of food is one of them. So I enrolled in YouTube Academy, knowing I had the background to effectively learn in such a limited way (depending, of course, by the content's quality of the video.) It was quite helpful: I picked up key techniques such as the Three Quarter Angle and setting the aperture wide to a low f-stop, so the fore and background are fuzzed, but the midground is left sharp on the main food subject. I will continue to research more techniques as I immerse myself in the "wide world of food photography".
Our first ice cream destination will be Peaceful Meadows in Whitman, MA [nope, it is not a cemetery in a generic film]. We're taking a friend along with us to get ice cream, which is a great idea, I just realized, because eating is best when it's a social activity. Who knows what will happen: will someone suggest getting a flight of ice cream cups? Will we ask for a sample of all the toppings so we can mix them on each of our dishes? Or will some family's toddler run off screaming, 'But I want more hot fudge!', through the formerly "peaceful meadows". I truly hope that when we go, anything is indeed possible.
Because my wife's plan involves two destinations (adventure & ice cream) per venture , I will get to employ other photographic genres that I have practiced thoroughly during my tenure. The first adventure pairing with Peaceful Meadows will be the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA. As a fully acknowledged bias, we tend to avoid the crafting and modern art genres whenever we go to museums, therefore we are consciously taking "expand your horizons" straight-on by going to a place with only such works. Even if one doesn't like something, there is always something to learn from it.
So let's get our cream and culture on!
